25 years of artistic endeavour: As part of its 25th anniversary show titled Drawing 2014 taking place at IGNCA, Gallery Espace is holding a series of outreach events such as guided tours of the current exhibition with curator Prayag Shukla and other art experts. Also on the cards is a jazz music performance by Tharichens Tentett, a 10-member jazz band.

A moment of pride: To celebrate the LGBT Pride month, catch a free screening of Stonewall Uprising, a documentary film capturing the story of the massive police raid of the gay rights uprising at Stonewall, USA in 1969.

Peace through the lens: The Inner Path, a film festival based on Buddhism curated by Aruna Vasudev, President of the Network for Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) enters its third year with sixteen feature and documentary films, as well as an art and photography exhibition by 20 artists whose work is related to Buddhism. The Festival will open with a recital by the internationally renowned Singing Nun, Venerable Ani Choying Drolma from Nepal, and will close with a performance by the celebrated Kung-fu Nuns from Ladakh. A Thangka painting demonstration by the artist Sidharth, an exhibition presented by Chokyi Palmo on the Magic Life of the Tibetan Yogi Milarepa, and a panel discussion among artists and filmmakers are other highlights of the festival.

The beat generation: This weekend will see ICCR hosting the World Percussion Festival, a three day world music festival including eminent percussionists from Spain, India, Israel, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Different worlds, different sounds: Amarrass Music Festival, is back with a line-up boasting artists from Mali, the United States, Palestine, India, and Brazil to showcase new, cross-cultural collaborations. Programming will also include audio-visual presentations and workshops by the artists, a crafts bazaar, and instrument makers. Other attractive features include an open-air stage, and great deals on food and beverages.

Theatre
What a comic show: One of the world’s largest comedy festivals — the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) has come to India again. The MICF Roadshow will see the best of Australian comics such as Ronny Chieng, Kate Mclennan, Elbow-Skin, Nish Kumar and David Williams and Rohan Desai (last year’s winner) at Summer House Café this weekend. The international visitors will also judge the local comedy competitions and conduct workshops.

Being Bandra: As part of the Celebrate Bandra Festival, around 40 artists will gather to present their work. Curated by artist Minali Thakkar, the focus will be lot more on functional, 3D, light and public interactive art. The festival is free of cost and open to all. The idea is to fill the suburb with art, which will be created on the ground, rocks, grass and windows with materials including fishing nets, rubic cubes, balloons and metalscraps. Among the pieces seen will be a huge limousine or an armour skirt and choli designed to protect the women.

Urban magicians: Alliance Francaise will screen Thin Air, the first film from The Bombay Trilogy by Ashim Ahluwalia. It chronicles the urban life through three illusionists who have little option but to confront reality.

Polish auteurs: The Kinoteka Polish Film Festival 2014, hosted by NCPA in collaboration with the Polish Institute, will screen films by renowned directors of the region. The works of Krzysztof Kieœlowski, Pawel Pawlikowski and Maciej Pieprzyca among others will be featured. Four parts of Kieœlowski’s legendary 1989 film The Decalogue, which is ten hours in length, will be showed over a course of four days. The film is inspired by the ten commandments and explores ethical dilemmas of modern day characters.

Korean cuisine: A Korean food festival will bring master chef Oh Wong Jong to showcase the region’s cuisine, known for its zesty flavors and nutritional value. At the week-long event, Jong will feature specialties like sweet pumpkin porridge, beef bone stock with spicy cabbage, japache (glass fried noodles with vegetables), grilled Korean beef patty and kimichi cucumber.

Metropolitan Opera: In the 2014-15 season of The Met: Live, NCPA will feature 10 live transmissions from The Metropolitan Opera, New York. In Le Nozze De Figaro, the Count has married Rosine but their marriage has gone sour because of his philandering. A comedy of errors occurs on a single folle journée (crazy day), when old and new lovers meet. Conducted by James Levine, the production stars Amanda Majeski,Marlis Petersen, Isabel Leonard, Peter Mattei , Ildar Abdrazakov
and others.

Go green: Head to the Green Bazaar this weekend, for some organic produce, chemical-free food, handmade craft items, upcycled fashion accessories, children's toys and even waste/water/ energy management solutions. This time, the market is also hosting "Eco Jam", where participants will be asked to provide real world solutions to a specific set of challenges faced by social organisations. The theme for the MakeAThon this time is urban mobility.There will also be several workshops for both children, such as how to make toys from waste and yoga for tiny tots, as well as for adults.

Rock to The Vaccines: English rock band The Vaccines will be performing their first live show in India in Bengaluru this weekend. The indie/alternative band released their critically-acclaimed debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? in 2011 and the band’s 2012 follow-up Come of Age was No.1 on the UK charts. They’ve toured and performed extensively with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys and Arcade Fire.

Theatre
No means no: “Give me a mother who will teach her son to sense/hear/see a 'no' from a woman and not construe a 'yes' as per his moral mathematics.”  A response to the Delhi 2012 gang rape incident, Walk, a monologue by Maya Krishna Rao, is directed at the notion of safe and unsafe public spaces. The performance intends to trigger debates on the existing notions of safety and gender. There will be a discussion post performance.
