Mine is a family of bibliophiles. But since space is an issue in any city, my wife gifted me an Amazon Kindle on my birthday some years ago. Recently, we were looking for a gift for an uncle, who loves reading but is yet to take the leap to ebooks. "What about a Kindle?" my wife asked.
Incidentally, the latest Kindle (Rs 5,999) had come in for a review; and one thing it flaunted was that it had double the storage space of its predecessor, at 4GB. And, it was lighter at 161 g. A caveat: get yourself a cover as the back of the Kindle 2016 is slippery and is a fingerprint magnet.
After using the Kindle Oasis and my Paperwhite, the dip in screen resolution hits you hard. But if you're a first-time Kindle user, this might not be a problem. However, this is the zippiest entry-level Kindle I have used. And that matters a lot when you read a lot of books. The Amazon Kindle 2016 is for those who want to take the plunge without spending too much. But if you read before going to bed, a Paperwhite is the bare minimum you need.
