The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) of Malaysia has been given the mandate to carry out feasibility studies for two highway corridors in Andhra Pradesh.
The board is a Malaysian government-sponsored undertaking comprising large construction companies, including the Renong and IJM group of companies.
Sources said the board would be allowed to take up the projects based on these feasibility studies. The studies are to be carried out for the Hyderabad-Vijaywada and Tada-Inchalakarinji corridors.

During the visit of Malaysia's minister for public works, S Samy Vellu, last year, the Malaysian government had sought some of the key inter-city corridors for development into expressways or highways, on a government-to-government basis, through a memorandum of understanding. It had also offered assistance of Rs 4,000 crore for five projects, including the Mumbai-Vadodara, Chennai-Trichirapalli and Chennai-Bangalore expressways.
