Himachal Pradesh-based Baddi University has collaborated with IBM to offer joint BTech Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) program with industry vertical & technology specialisations through their Solan campus. The joint initiative is aimed to make students from the university employment ready when they graduate.

As part of the partnership, IBM will design and deliver the new set of technology & domain courses and train the faculty on the same. The university will engage with students and deliver these courses as well as provide the marketing & infrastructure support to run these programmes. IBM will provide a web based courseware, webinars and subject matter expert to visit to the campus.

Lovi Raj Gupta, vice chancellor of Baddi University said, "The new paradigm in the education domain is the 'out of the box thinking'. However, nobody is defining the box. With this initiative, Baddi University, along with IBM, have defined the box and are bringing together what is best for the students and the industry."

The program has been extended to their existing students and offered to the upcoming batches of BTech CSE students amounting to nearly 1,000 students over the next 4 years.

A press statement on this collaboration said that the availability of job-ready graduates will also help fill the gap within the IT industry, where fresh graduates take long unproductive time to get deployed on customer sites or projects.

"Today, there is a greater demand for skilled technology professionals. This initiative will equip the students, at Baddi University, to adapt to the dynamics in the industry and drive technology and business innovation. These courses will imbibe deep theoretical knowledge in students, coupled with broad-based industry alignment, interaction, talent discoverability as well as excellence in their professional practice," said Subram Natarajan, Executive - Systems Solutions Center, Deep Computing and STG Education, IBM India South Asia.
