BHEL PSER posts 29% rise in PBT

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd Power Sector Eastern Region (BHEL PSER) has posted a 29 per cent rise in profit before tax to Rs 157.87 crore during the financial year 2011-12 ended on March 31, as compared to Rs 122.15 crore during the previous fiscal.

The turnover for the period under review for the BHEL unit also increased 24 per cent to Rs 2,700 crore during the financial year 2011-12, against Rs 2174.52 crore during the financial year 2010-11. “During this fiscal, our target is to achieve a turnover of Rs 3,100 crore and a PBT of Rs 300 crore,” said M Rajiv Kumar, executive director of BHEL, eastern region.

“Our target also includes a capacity addition of more than 3000 mega watt, which includes commissioning of the first 660MW super critical set at Barh,” he added. During the last financial year, BHEL PSER did its highest-ever capacity addition by adding 2838 MW. Cumulative orders in hand of PSER for execution in 2012-13 and beyod, stands at about Rs 7,153.32 crore.

BHEL as a whole had a 19.4 per cent rise in turnover to Rs 49,301 crore for the last financial year, as against Rs 41.299 crore during the fiscal 2010-11. The firm's PBT also saw a 17.8 per cent rise to Rs 10,001 crore during the fiscal, against Rs 8,487 crore during the financial year 2010-11.
