The Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed dull trading yesterday and the CSE-40 index declined by 9.31 points to close at 2,179.64 after fluctuating between 2,202.02 points and 2,169.77 points earlier, against Wednesday's closing of 2,188.95 points.
According CSE dealers, the market had firmed up in the first half of trading but dropped to dull levels during the course of the day. "Activity on all counters was dull and the reasons could be as varied as Kargil or the imminent general elections," said dealers.
