A weak trend continued in groundnut oil whereas other industrial oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday.
Groundnut oil declined further by Rs four at Rs 360 per 10 kg on sluggish consumer demand coupled with brisk arrivals.
In other oils, linseed oil and kardi oil declined by Rs five each to Rs 320 and Rs 360 per 10 kg respectively on reduced offtake. Copra oil white declined by Rs 10 to Rs 490 per 10 kg. Ricebran oil and sunflower oil expeller eased by Rs three each to Rs 172 and Rs 350 per 10 kg respectively.

Imported palmolein eased further by Rs four at Rs 318 per 10 kg on easy availability.
In futures section, castorseeds March '98 contract opened 50 paise firm at Rs 1213.50 a quintal, and ruled at the same level throughout the trading session. June contract opened Rs 4.50 lower at Rs 1249.50 a quintal, firmed to Rs 1259, declined to Rs 1249.50 before closing at Rs 1257.50 a quintal.
In oilseeds, kardiseeds bold improved by Rs 50 to Rs 1400 a quintal.
Sugar: A better-to-firm trend prevailed in sugar prices on improved consumer offtake coupled with modest arrivals at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai, yesterday.
Sugar S-30 grade firmed up to Rs 1435/1465 from the previous level of Rs 1425/1460 a quintal. Sugar M-30 grade edged up to Rs 1455/1510 against the previous level of Rs 1450/1510 a quintal. Meanwhile, sugar for the check post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1415/1430 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1445/1475 for the M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous metals: An easy-to-steady trend was noticed in the local non-ferrous metals market yesterday.
In virgin metals, zinc slabs eased further by 25 paise to Rs 70 a kg. All the other metals ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted as under : copper wirebar Rs 114, aluminium ingots Rs 82, lead ingots Rs 40, tin slabs Rs 345 and nickel cathodes Rs 310 a kg respectively.
In scraps section, all the metals ruled overall steady, and were nominally quoted as under : copper heavy scraps Rs 104.50, copper utensils Rs 93.25, brass utensils Rs 82.75, brass sheetcuttings Rs 87.25 and aluminium utensils Rs 62 a kg respectively.
Bullion: A weak-to-downward trend was witnessed in the local bullion market yesterday.
In white metals, silver .999 and .916 declined further by Rs 260 and Rs 245 to Rs 8500 and Rs 8,385 a kg respectively.
In yellow metals, both standard gold and 22 carat gold eased further by Rs 10 each to Rs 3950 and Rs 3650 per 10 grammes respectively. Gold biscuit prices also declined by Rs 200 at Rs 46,200 per piece of gold bar.
