Groundnut oil continued to rule weak on sluggish demand and brisk arrivals whereas other industrial oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday. Imported palmolein ruled slightly firm on better demand and modest arrivals.
Groundnut oil eased further by Re 1 at Rs 348 per 10 kg.on reduced demand and brisk arrivals from producing centres. Heavy imports of edible oils also kept the prices under pressure. Arrivals were put at around 120 tonnes a day.
Sesame oil and sunflower oil refined declined by Rs 5 and Rs 2 to Rs 285 and Rs 278 per 10 kg.respectively on reduced industrial demand. Imported palmolein firmed up by a rupee at Rs 254 on better consumer offtake. . In futures section, December contract opened Re 1 lower at Rs 1164 and firmed up to Rs 1165 a quintal. It declined to Rs 1162.50 before closing at Rs 1163 a quintal. In oilseeds, all the oilseeds ruled overall steady.

Sugar: An easy trend continued in the wholesale sugar market at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday. Both grades ruled weak, and the undertone of the market was not firm.
S-30 eased further to Rs 1496/1518 as against the previous level of Rs 1501/1520 a quintal on sluggish consumer demand coupled with brisk arrivals. M-30 softened up further to Rs 1518/1553 as against the previous level of Rs 1520/1560 on dull offtake. Sugar for the check post deliveries were quoted low at Rs 1480/1495 a quintal for S-30 and Rs 1501/1522 for the M-30 .
Non-ferrous metals: Totally quiet conditions were witnessed in the local non-ferrous market yesterday. Demand remained subdued and modest arrivals were reported in the market. The undertone was hesitant.
In scraps section, all the metals ruled overall quiet, and were nominally quoted as under : copper heavy scraps Rs 120, copper utensils Rs 109.75, brass utensils Rs 96.25, and brass sheetcuttings Rs 101.50 respectively on narrow movements.
The metals in the virgin section ruled steady, and were nominally quoted as under : copper wirebars Rs 128.50, aluminium ingots Rs 78, zinc slabs Rs 87, lead ingots Rs 42, tin slabs Rs 283 and nickel cathodes Rs 321 a kg. respectively.
Bullion: A firm-to-upward trend was noticed in the local bullion market yesterday. Though both the precious metals ruled firm, the market undertone was hesitant.
Standard gold and 22 carat gold looked up by Rs 5 each to Rs 4470 and Rs 4,135 per 10 grammes on better demand and modest arrivals. Gold biscuits prices ruledl steady at the previous level of Rs 52,400 per piece of 10 tolas on subdued movements. Silver.999 and .916 improved by Rs 15 each to Rs 6900 and Rs 6800 a kg.respectively.
