Indo-Gulf Corporatoin, an Aditya Birla Group company, has for the first quarter ended June 1999 reported a 14.68 per cent rise in net profit at rs 46.08 crore against Rs 39.71 crore in the same period last year. Sales jumped 56.13 per cent in Rs 465.43 crore as compared with Rs 298.09 crore. Turnover from the fertiliser division was Rs 164.84 crore against Rs 150.12 crore in the previous year. The copper division doubled its sales to Rs 300.59 crore from Rs 147.97 crore. Total expenditure climbed to Rs 368.01 crore from Rs 238.82 crore in the same period last year. Profit before interest, depreciation and tax stood at Rs 107.79 crore. Interest outgo for the copper division rose three times to Rs 33.59 crore from last year's Rs 10.43 crore. However, the company's fertiliser unit managed to cut interest payments to Rs 63 lakh from Rs 1.82 crore.
