Though the name of the Japanese company is not known, industry sources say that a team of senior officials of DGP Windsor are visiting Japan this month to finalise the deal. The collaboration is expected to be purely technical in nature. The agreement with the German company will, however, take some time to materialise.

Through this tie-up DGP Windsor will be manufacturing a range of injection moulding machines. They are expected to be in the range of 50 to 800 tonnes. The expansion of DGP Windsor highlights the growing interest evinced by Indian companies in this market. It may be recalled that the Mafatlals have already joined hands with Battenfeld of Germany to manufacture similar machines.Battenfeld is one of the largest producer of such machines in the world.

While the injection moulding division of DGP Windsor constitutes nearly 60 per cent of the total turnover of the company, the extrusion division constitutes 35 per cent followed by the blow moulding business with 5 per cent.

The injection moulding division recently launched its 'W' series having a clamping force of 1,100 to 1,600 tonnes.

DGP Windsor reported sales of Rs 179 crore for the 15-month period ended June 1996. Gross profits for the period stood at Rs 17.87 crore as compared with Rs 10.7 crore in 1994-95.
