Colours of the north east: The Government of Meghalaya presents “Songs And Dances Of The North East”, a cultural festival that will showcase the rich, vibrant cultural ethnicity and diversity of north east India. The festival is a daylong event where visitors will experience food, songs, dances, plays and much more from the north east of India. Some of the highlights will include musical performances by Soulmate, Tetseo Sisters and Lou Majaw, and a dance performance by the Meghalaya Wangala Dance group.

Art from the Valley: Vis Experience Centre presents “Re-Start”, an exhibition that provides a unique insight into the contemporary art practices of Kashmir. The exhibition will showcase artworks in a variety of mediums ranging from paintings and sculptures to photo collages. The participating artists include Veer Munshi, Rajinder Tiku, Masood Hussain, Malik Sajid, Adil Khan and Suhail Sofi.

Different strokes: Gallery Ragini presents “One Cake And Ten Candles”, a group exhibition celebrating 10 years of the gallery. On display will be a series of works across different mediums by both established and upcoming artists. The participating artists include Dhanur Goyal, Dhawat Singh, Farhad Hussain, Jagdish Chinthala, Jaiprakash Chouhan and Manjunath Kamath.

European cinema: Delhi is playing host to the 20th European Union Film Festival. Celebrating 20 years of bringing European cinema to India, the festival will screen movies from varied genres including comedy, drama, romance and action — many charming and sometimes unsettling stories. The festival will tell the story of eleven year old Freddy, a cyclist who hopes to win a race and thereby meets one of his heroes; of two opera Directors whose common passion for music is matched by their thirst for love; of a man who runs away from his girlfriend but collides with a bride who has run away from her wedding; of a woman whose life in a mansion somehow mirrors the turbulent changes of an entire century; of a boy who makes unexpected friends while investigating the death of his parents in a car accident; and of the happy householder with the perfect marriage who finds love — or maybe something else — with a choreographer who loves her cooking.

Switching sides: Savitribai Phule Natyagruha is showcasing “Me Nathuram Godse Boltoy (“This Is Nathuram Godse Speaking”), a two act Marathi play written by Pradeep Dalvi. The play, through its thought-provoking narrative takes a look at the Mahatma Gandhi's assassination trial from the point of view of the accused, Nathuram Godse.

Fighting the odds: Little Theatre is screening “Fly Away Home”, a 1996 family drama film directed by Carroll Ballard. The film’s story follows a young girl from New Zealand who survives a car crash that results in the death of her mother. The young girl is sent to live with her father on an Ontario farm, where she adopts a brood of Canada geese chicks. When the birds imprint on her as their Mother Goose, she realises that unless she and her father can teach the birds a migration route from Ontario to North Carolina, the birds will not be able to survive the winter. The solution comes in the form of ultralight aircraft that are used to guide the birds to sanctuary.The film stars Anna Paquin, Jeff Daniels and Dana Delany.

Legendary art: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sanghralaya along with Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation is showcasing an exhibition of paintings by Howard Hodgkin for the first in India. Two major works by Hodgkin are being presented from Tate London’s collection: “Rain”(1984-89) and “Come into the Garden, Maud”(2000- 03). Hodgkin is one of Britain’s most eminent artists. A total 20 of his works are on display at the exhibition that captures a whole range of his oeuvre from the 1980s to the present.

Holy spirit : Shades Of Art presents an exhibition of photographs from the holy city of Varanasi by photographer Veeral Parekh. “Life on the Ghats” is a collection of pictures from Varanasi that shows how life goes now in this ancient city. It documents the 'ghats' and the bustling life around it. It also has pictures of some really old buildings from the city of Benaras that easily date back more than a 100 years.

Calling the shots: Jus Trufs is screening “Hasmukh Saab Ki Wasihat”, a comedy play about a dictatorial businessman who wants to control his family even after his death. He leaves behind a will that states stringent conditions under which his family must live or get disinherited. His mistress is also allowed to move into the family home. However, his wife and mistress start bonding with each other much to his dismay. The play is written and directed by Mahesh Dattani, and stars Mohan Agashe, Seema Pahwa, Achint Kaur and Mona Wasu.

Classic replay: It's been 25 years since legendary grunge rock band Pearl Jam released their debut album “Ten” that had songs such as “Jeremy’, Even Flow and “Black!”, which went on to become classics.
