A spurt was noticed in groundnut oil yesterday due to restricted supplies.
The demand, however, remained dull. Most other edible oils ruled easy-to-subdued at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market here yesterday.
Groundnut oil rose by Rs 12 at Rs 530 per 10 kg. Castor oil Commercial and BSS qualities declined further by Rs 20 each to Rs 408 and Rs 420 per 10 kg respectively. Linseed oil and kardi oil dipped by Rs 12 and Rs 10 to Rs 428 and Rs 600 per 10 kg respectively.

Soya oil refined and sunflower oil expeller firmed up by Rs 2 and Rs 3 to Rs 378 and Rs 405 per 10 kg respectively on weak industrial demand.
Imported palmolein firmed up by Rs 2 at Rs 354 per 10 kg. December contract opened Rs 25.50 lower at Rs 1,689 and improved to Rs 1690 a quintal. It declined to Rs 1674 before closing at Rs 1675.50 a quintal.
Castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities dropped back heavily by Rs 96 each to Rs 1862 and Rs 1856 a quintal. Kardi seeds declined by Rs 100 to Rs 1900 a quintal due to lack of buyers. Sugar: A mixed trend was witnessed in prices at the wholesale sugar market yesterday.
S-30 eased to Rs 1460/1495 a quintal against Rs 1465/1510. M-30 marginally firmed up to Rs 1480/1550 a quintal against its previous level of Rs 1475/1550. Sugar for the check-post deliveries was quoted lower at Rs 1438/1450 a quintal for S-30 and Rs 1463/1475 a quintal for M-30.
Non-ferrous metals: An easy-to-steady trend continued in the local non-ferrous metals market yesterday. Nickel cathodes and zinc slabs eased by Re 1 and 50 paise to Rs 255 and Rs 79.00 a kg respectively. The other metals ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted as under : copper wirebar Rs 123.50, aluminium ingots Rs 85.50, lead ingots Rs 45.00 and tin slabs Rs 382 a kg respectively.
Brass sheetcuttings firmed up marginally by 50 paise at Rs 79.00 a kg. on better industrial demand against limited supplies. The other scraps were quoted as follows: copper heavy scraps Rs 108.50, copper utensils Rs 94.50, brass utensils Rs 83.00 and aluminium utensils Rs 63.00 a kg respectively.
Bullion: A divergent trend was noticed in the local bullion market yesterday. Silver .999 and .916 weakened further by Rs 25 each to Rs 7,975 and Rs 7,850 a kg respectively on weak overseas advices. Delhi advices also indicated a moderate trend. Both standard gold and 22 carat gold firmed up by Rs 10 each to Rs 4210 and Rs 3895 per 10 grams respectively. Gold biscuit prices advanced by Rs 250 at Rs 49,550 per piece of gold bar on better movements.
