A steady trend was noticed in groundnut oil, while most of the other edible oils ruled easy-to-subdued at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai, yesterday. Imported palmolein ruled firm.
In the futures market, the September'98 contract remained untraded, while the December'98 contract opened lower but recovered towards closing.
Groundnut oil was nominally quoted at Rs 595 per 10 kg. In other oils, castor oil commercial and BSS qualities declined further by Rs 10 each to Rs 465 and Rs 477 per 10 kg, respectively.

Linseed oil and sunflower oil expeller rose by Rs 5 and Rs 2 to Rs 460 and Rs 440 per 10 kg, respectively.
Ricebran oil softened by Rs 3 to Rs 235 per 10 kg, while karanji oil firmed up by Rs 4 to Rs 232 per 10 kg. Imported palmolein firmed up by Rs 2 at Rs 388 per 10 kg.
December contract closed at Rs 1,827.50 a quintal, while in oilseeds, castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities declined by Rs 48 each to Rs 2,136 and Rs 2,130 a quintal, respectively.
Sugar: A weak-to-subdued trend witnessed inprices yesterday. Both the grades ruled dull.
S-30 eased to Rs 1,403/1,420 a quintal, while M-30 declined to Rs 1,430/1,495 a quintal. Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1,385/1,399 a quintal for S-30 and Rs 1,408/1,420 a quintal for M-30.
Non-ferrous metals: An easy-to-steady condition was noticed in non-ferrous metals yesterday. In the scraps section, copper heavy scraps declined by 75 paise to Rs 104.50, while copper utensils, brass utensils and brass sheetcuttings eased by 25 paise each to Rs 93.00, Rs 86.00 and Rs 88.00 a kg, respectively. Meanwhile, aluminium utensils ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted at Rs 63.50 a kg.
In virgin metals, copper wirebar softened by 50 paise at Rs 118 a kg, while tin slabs improved by Rs 3 at Rs 378 a kg.
Meanwhile, all the other metals were nominally quoted as under : aluminium ingots Rs 86, zinc slabs Rs 79.50, lead ingots Rs 45.50, and nickel cathodes Rs 248 a kg, respectively.
Bullion: A firm-to-upward trend was noticed in both the precious metals at the local bullion market yesterday. Silver .999 and .916 improved by Rs 35 and Rs 45 to Rs 7,535 and Rs 7,395 a kg, respectively.
Standard gold and 22-carat gold firmed up by Rs 25 and Rs 20 to Rs 4,245 and Rs 3,925 per 10 grams, respectively.
Gold biscuit prices advanced by Rs 400 at Rs 50,000 per piece of gold biscuit.
