Groundnut oil advanced further while most of the other edible oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market.
Groundnut oil improved by Rs 5 to Rs 635 per 10 kg on acute shortage of ready stock against better offtake due to the festival season.
Linseed oil and kardi oil firmed by Rs 5 each to Rs 485 and Rs 665 per 10 kg, respectively. Cottonseed oil washed and karanji oil looked up by Rs 3 and Rs 2 to Rs 448 and Rs 250 per 10 kg, respectively. Castor oil commercial and BSS qualities advanced by Rs 5 each to Rs 450 and Rs 462 per 10 kg, respectively. Imported palmolein firmed up by Re 1 to Rs 386 per 10 kg on dull offtake against limited availability.

In the futures market, December contract opened Rs 30 lower at Rs 1,690 a quintal and later closed at Rs 1,690 a quintal, on speculative movements.
Castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra improved by Rs 24 each to Rs 2,064 and Rs 2,058 a quintal, respectively. Kardi seeds were up by Rs 50 to Rs 1,950 while nigerseeds Madras declined by Rs 50 to Rs 1,850 a quintal, respectively.
Sugar: A mixed trend was noticed in sugar prices. S-30 grade ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted at Rs 1,465-1,490 a quintal on narrow movements. M-30 eased to Rs 1,485-1,555 a quintal against its previous level of Rs 1,488-1,560 on subdued consumer demand and easy arrivals. Sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted higher at Rs 1,440-1,450 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1,460-1,490 a quintal for M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous Metals: An easy-to-steady conditions prevailed in the local non-ferrous metals market. In scraps section, brass utensils and brass sheetcuttings eased by 25 paise each to Rs 84 and Rs 85.75 a kg, respectively, on reduced industrial demand against better supply of ready stock.
Meanwhile, copper heavy scraps, copper utensils and aluminium utensils ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted to Rs 100, Rs 91.25 and Rs 63.50 a kg, respectively, on narrow movements.
In virgin metals, zinc slabs eased by Re 1 to Rs 75.50 a kg. All the other metals ruled overall steady and were quoted as under : copper wirebar Rs 115, aluminium ingots Rs 86, lead ingots Rs 45.50, tin slabs Rs 384 and nickel cathodes Rs 253 a kg, respectively, on narrow movements.
Bullion: A firm-to-upward trend was noticed in both the precious metals in the local bullion market yesterday.
Silver .999 and .916 improved by Rs 95 and Rs 105 to Rs 7,425 and Rs 7,305 a kg, respectively.
Standard gold and 22 carat gold looked up by Rs 30 each to Rs 4,360 and Rs 4,035 per 10 grams, respectively. Gold biscuits prices advanced by Rs 350 to Rs 51,250 per piece of gold biscuit on better movements.
