Groundnut oil staged a recovery yesterday on paucity of ready stock due to dwindling supplies from Gujarat. Other industrial oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market here yesterday.
Groundnut oil improved by Rs 7 at Rs 500 per 10 kg. Arrivals were placed around 80 tonne a day. Copra oil white and ricebran oil improved by Rs 5 each to Rs 470 and Rs 245 a quintal.
Mowra oil eased by Rs 5 to Rs 380 per 10 kg. Castor oil commercial and BSS varieties improved further by Rs 4 each to Rs 332 and Rs 344 per 10 kg respectively. Imported palmolein flared up by Rs 5 at Rs 382 per 10 kg on reduced arrivals.

Castor seeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities looked up further Rs 14 each to Rs 1498 and Rs 1492 a quintal respectively. Sesame seeds bold improved by Rs 50 to Rs 2350 a quintal.
Sugar: An easy-to-subdued trend was witnessed in sugar prices at the wholesale sugar market, here yesterday. The market undertone was weak.
S-30 eased to Rs 1456/1467 a quintal against its previous level of Rs 1455/1470 on subdued movements. M-30 firmed up marginally to Rs 1480/1535 a quintal against the previous level of Rs 1480/1520. Sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1440/1450 a quintal for S-30 and Rs 1460/1470 a quintal for M-30.
Non-ferrous metals: An easy-to-steady trend continued in the local non-ferrous metals market yesterday. The undertone was weak.
Tin slabs declined by Rs 2 at Rs 375 a kg on better arrivals. Copper wirebar and zinc slabs eased by 50 paise each to Rs 130.50 and Rs 77.50 a kg respectively. Meanwhile, all other metals ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted as under : aluminium ingots Rs 83, lead ingots Rs 43.50, and nickel cathodes Rs 292 a kg respectively.
In the scraps section, copper heavy scraps and copper utensils eased by 50 paise each to Rs 113.50 and Rs 102.25 a kg respectively. Brass utensils and brass sheetcuttings softened further by 25 paise each to Rs 88.25, and Rs 92.00 a kg respectively. Meanwhile, aluminium utensils ruled overall steady and was quoted at Rs 64.50 a kg respectively.
Bullion: A divergent trend was noticed in the local bullion market yesterday. Both the precious metals ruled in opposite directions.
Silver .999 and .916 firmed up by Rs 5 and Rs 25 to Rs 8,045 and Rs 7,930 a kg respectively. Both standard gold and 22 carat gold eased afresh by Rs 5 each to Rs 4,275 and Rs 3,955 per 10 grammes respectively. Gold biscuit prices ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted at Rs 50,400 per piece of gold bar.
