The policy will give cover to a local individual traveller or a group of travellers for accidents and other mishaps during the time of their journey. It will also cover loss of luggage during travel, sources informed.

The policy will be valid for 60 days from the day of journey. The maximum mishap cover will be Rs one lakh per person. It has a provision of Rs 1000 per person as incidental charges for minor injuries.

The rates of premium for the policy will increase with the increase in the number of persons in the group. For one person, the flat rate will be Rs 80, while for two persons it will be Rs 190.

For eight persons, the premium has been fixed at Rs 400, and for every addition the rate will go up by Rs 40.

The policy also provides for compensation for loss of luggage during travel.

The amount of compensation would be a maximum of Rs 5000 per person.

In case of cancellation of a travel plan, the insured person can cancel the policy but the corporation will deduct Rs 30 as incidental cost.

Even though the traveller will have to inform about the dates of his travel, he can change by again telling the corporation about this change.

However, the total duration should not exceed 60 days for the purpose of this policy.

Extension of journey too will be permitted within this limit. Each child will be counted as one individual.
