Gnut Oil Better, Sugar Mixed, Metals Steady

Groundnut oil improved on better demand coupled with modest arrivals, whereas other industrial oils ruled easy to steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday.

Imported palmolein ruled firm on improved demand against limited arrivals. In futures section, both the castorseeds contracts remained officially closed on account of Parsi New Year.

Groundnut oil firmed up by Rs 2. at Rs 363 per 10 kg on improved demand and limited arrivals from the producing centers. Arrivals were put at around 80 tonne a day.

In other oils, sesame oil declined further by Rs 5 at Rs 285 per 10 kg on reduced industrial demand and better arrivals. Soya oil refined and sunflower oil expleller improved by Rs 3 and Rs 5 to Rs 285 and Rs 275 per 10 kg. respectively on improved industrial demand coupled with modest arrivals.

Copra oil white recovered by Rs 5 at Rs 545 per 10 kg on better industrial demand and reduced arrivals.

Ricebran oil dipped by Rs 3 to Rs 175 per 10 kg.on dull offtake while cottonseed oil refined eased by Re 1 to Rs 287 per 10 kg. on subdued demand and modest arrivals. Meanwhile, majority of other oils ruled overall steady on narrow movements.

In oilseeds, all the oilseeds ruled overall steady on narrow movements.

Sugar: A mixed trend was witnessed at the wholesale sugar market at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday.

Small grade sugar ruled subdued, while medium grade ruled overall steady on narrow movements. The undertone of the market was not firm.

Sugar S-30 grade ruled at Rs 1490/1525 as against of the previous level of Rs 1498/1520 a quintal on dull consumer offtake while sugar M-30 ruled overall steady at the previous level of Rs 1515/1548 a quintal on subdued offtake.

Meanwhile, sugar for the check post deliveries were quoted low at Rs 1470/1482 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1487/1505 for the M-30 grade.

Non-ferrous Metals :A steady trend was witnessed in the local non-ferrous market yesterday. The demand remained dull as against of better arrivals. The undertone of the market was hesitant.

In the virgin section, steady conditions were noticed. All the metals ruled steady and were nominally quoted as under : copper wirebar Rs 128.50, aluminium ingots Rs 78, zinc slabs Rs 85, lead ingots Rs 42, tin slabs Rs 285 and nickel cathodes Rs 328 a kg. respectively on narrow movements.

In scraps section, all the metals ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted as under : copper heavy scraps Rs 119.50, copper utensils Rs 109.50, brass utensils Rs 95.50, brass sheetcuttings Rs 100.50 and aluminium utensils Rs 60 a kg. respectively on narrow movements.

Bullion: The Bombay Bullion Association remained officially closed on account of Parsi New Year.
