While groundnut oil was steady at improved levels yesterday, most of the edible oils ruled easy-to-subdued at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai, yesterday.
Groundnut oil was nominally quoted at Rs 585 per 10 kg but transactions were not taking place at this rate. Arrivals from the producing centres remained scattered to nil.
In other oils, castor oil commercial and BSS qualities moved up further by Rs 8 each to Rs 480 and Rs 492 per 10 kg, respectively. Mowra oil and neem oil moved up by Rs 3 each to Rs 338 and Rs 258 per 10 kg respectively. Copra oil white and karanji oil firmed up by Rs 10 and Rs 5 to Rs 475 and Rs 215 per 10 kg respectively.

Imported palmolein moved up by Rs 2 at Rs 364 per 10 kg on limited supplies against better demand.
In the futures section, the December contract opened Rs 26 higher at Rs 1,860, moved up to Rs 1864, declined to Rs 1,831 before closing at Rs 1,835 a quintal on speculative movements.
Sugar: A mixed trend was noticed in prices at the wholesale market yesterday. The undertone of the market was weak.
Sugar S-30 grade firmed up marginally to Rs 1,425/1,455 a quintal against its previous level of Rs 1,420/1,455.
Sugar M-30 weakened further to Rs 1,460/1,502 a quintal against its previous level of Rs 1,460/1,,525 on dull offtake.
Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1,415/1,425 a quintal for the S-30 grade and Rs 1,440/1,470 a quintal for the M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous metals: An easy-to-steady condition was noticed yesterday.
In virgin metals, nickel cathodes and zinc slabs eased by Re 1 each to Rs 253 and Rs 78 a kg, respectively. Copper wirebar eased by 50 paise at Rs 121 a kg. Meanwhile, all the other metals ruled overall steady, and were nominally quoted as under : aluminium ingots Rs 85.50, lead ingots Rs 45 and tin slabs Rs 380 a kg, respectively..
In the scraps section, copper heavy scraps weakened nally quoted at Rs 63 a kg.
Bullion: A divergent trend was noticed in the local market yesterday. The undertone of the market remained weak. In yellow metals, both standard gold and 22 carat gold declined further by Rs 10 each to Rs 4,200 and Rs 3,885 per 10 grams respectively. Gold biscuit prices lost Rs 100 at Rs 49,100 per piece of bar. In white metals, silver .999 and .916 firmed up by Rs 20 and Rs 25 to Rs 7,820 and Rs 7,700 a kg, respectively.
