Groundnut oil continued to ease on improved arrivals from producing centres while other industrial oils ruled easy to steady on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday. Imported palmolein ruled weak.
In future section, castorseeds June contract opened higher and firmed up further towards
the close. Groundnut oil eased further by Rs 2 at Rs 400 per 10 kg.

In other oils, linseed oil and soya oil refined declined further by Rs 8 and Rs 7 to Rs 367 and Rs 388 per 10 kg respectivel.
Cottonseed oil washed and refined lost Rs 6 each to Rs 376 and Rs 378 per 10 kg respectivel.. Rapeseed oil refined and sunflower oil expeller declined by Rs 4 and Rs 2 to Rs 370 and Rs 388 per 10 kg respectively.Imported palmolein declined by Rs 6 at Rs 368 per 10 kg.
In the futures market, castorseeds June contract opened Rs 1.50 higher at Rs 1,273 a quintal and firmed up to Rs 1,276.
In oilseeds, kardi seeds bold improved by Rs 50 to Rs 1,650 a quintal on better industrial demand. Castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities eased by Rs 4 each to Rs 1,234
and Rs 1,228 per quintal respectively. Sugar: Sugar S-30 grade firmed up to Rs 1,480/1,515 against the previous level of Rs 1,470/1,500 a quintal on restricted availability of ready stock.
Sugar M-30 improved to Rs 1,505/1,558 as against the previous level of Rs 1,500/1,545 a quintal.
Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1,465/1,485 a quintal for S-30 grade, and Rs 1,495/1,520 a quintal for the M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous metals: A mixed trend was seen in the local non-ferrous metals market.
In virgin section, copper wirebar and zinc slabs firmed up by 50 paise each to Rs 120.75 and Rs 73.50 per kg respectively.
Tins slabs improved by Rs 2 at Rs 350.
Others retained the previous rates.In the scraps section, copper heavy scraps and brass utensils declined by 75 paise and Re 1 to Rs 108.75 and Rs 85.50 a kg respectively., Copper utensils and brass sheetcuttings eased by 50 paise each to Rs 95 and Rs 89.50 a kg respectivel.Meanwhile, aluminium utensils quoted at Rs 62 a kg on narrow movements.
Bullion: Both the precious metals ruled firm, the undertone remained dull. In white metals, silver .999 and .916 improved by Rs 90 and Rs 75 to Rs 8,870 and Rs 8,740a kg respectivel.
In yellow metals, both- standard gold and 22 carat gold firmed up by Rs 40 and Rs 35 to Rs 4,240 and Rs 3,920 per 10 grams respectively on better consumer demand.
The overseas advices also indicated a firm trend. Gold biscuit prices also improved up by Rs 500 at Rs 49,800 per piece of gold bar.
