Groundnut oil declined by Rs 5 at Rs 345 per 10 kg on weak demand coupled with brisk arrivals. Trading volume was thin. Mowra and neem oils also slid by Rs 5 each to Rs 230 and Rs 220 per 10 kg, respectively, on sluggish industrial demand against better arrivals.
Castor oil commercial and BSS qualities eased by Rs 2 each to Rs 400 and Rs 412 per 10 kg, respectively, on subdued industrial offtake. Imported RBD palmolein softened by Rs 3 at Rs 209 per 10 kg while soybean oil refined eased by Re 1 at Rs 232 per 10 kg.
Castorseeds June 2000 contract opened Rs 3 lower at Rs 1,879 a quintal and touched an intra-day of Rs 1,895, a low of Rs 1,870 before closing to Rs 1,895 a quintal.

Castorseeds declined by Rs 10 to Rs 1,850 a quintal on brisk supplies and dull offtake. Nigerseeds firmed up by Rs 25 at Rs 2,300 a quintal.
Sugar: A weak trend continued on slack demand. Small grade (S-30) eased to Rs 1,460/1,510 a quintal (Rs 1,470/1,520) on improved arrivals from upcountry centres coupled with dull demand.
Medium grade (M-30) declined to Rs 1,500/1,585 a quintal (Rs 1,515/1,585) on subdued offtake. Consumer demand was dull. Sugar for check-post deliveries was quoted higher at Rs 1,440/1,455 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1,475/1,490 for medium grade.
Non-ferrous metals: A steady trend was seen on subdued demand.
All scraps ruled steady with copper heavy quoted at Rs 117, copper utensils at Rs 99.50, brass utensils at Rs 89.50, brass sheetcuttings at Rs 96.50 and aluminium utensils at Rs 68.50 a kg.
Virgins too held steady and were nominally quoted as under: copper wirebar Rs 122.50, aluminium ingots Rs 90, zinc slabs Rs 89.50, lead ingots Rs 35, tin slabs Rs 372 and nickel cathodes Rs 590 a kg, respectively.
Bullion: A firm trend was noticed in precious metals. Silver .999 and .916 looked up by Rs 5 each to Rs 7,920 and Rs 7,800 a kg, respectively, on firm overseas advices and modest demand. Delhi advices indicated a moderate trend.
Standard gold and 22-carat gold improved further by Rs 15 and Rs 10 to Rs 4,380 and Rs 4,050 per 10 gram, respectively, on strong overseas advices and modest local offtake. Gold biscuits prices firmed up Rs 50 at Rs 51,250 per piece on better offtake.
