Groundnut oil remained steady, while other industrial oils ruled subdued at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market at Turbhe yesterday. Imported palmolein ruled easy on subdued demand. In future section, castorseeds June contract remained untraded. The September contract opened lower but firmed up towards closing.
Groundnut oil remained at the previous level of Rs 360 per 10 kg on subdued demand coupled with modest arrivals. Arrivals were put at around 80/90 tonnes a day.
In other oils, sesame oil and karanji oil declined by Rs 5 each to Rs 320 and Rs 160 per 10 kg respectively. Sunflower oil expeller and soybean oil refined eased by Rs 2 each to Rs 295 and Rs 273 per 10 kg respectively, while rapeseed oil refined weakened by Re 1 to Rs 278 per 10 kg.

Imported palmolein softened by Re 3 at Rs 275 per 10 kg on dull demand. Meanwhile, majority of other oils ruled steady.
In futures section, castorseeds September contract opened Rs 1.50 lower at Rs 1,144 and firmed up to Rs 1,144.50. It declined to Rs 1,144 before closing at Rs 1,150.50 a quintal.
In oilseeds, castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities declined by Rs 4 each to Rs 1,090 and Rs 1,084 a quintal respectively on sluggish industrial demand coupled with better arrivals.
Sugar: A steady-to-subdued trend was noticed at the Turbhe wholesale sugar market yesterday. Narrow movements witnessed in the prices of both the grades of sugar. The undertone of the market was not firm.
Sugar S-30 grade was quoted at Rs 1,420/1,445 as against of the previous level of Rs 1,420/1,440 a quintal on subdued demand and moderate arrivals. While sugar M-30 grade ruled at Rs 1,460/1,495 as against the previous level of Rs 1,460/1,500 a quintal on subdued offtake. Meanwhile, sugar for the check post deliveries was quoted easy at Rs 1,395/1,420 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1,433/1,457 for the M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous Metals: A quiet trend was noticed in the local non-ferrous market yesterday. Industrial demand remained steady against limited arrivals.
In virgin section, prices were nominally quoted as under: copper wirebar Rs 136.25, aluminium ingots Rs 76.50, zinc slabs Rs 80.00, lead ingots Rs 41.50, tin slabs Rs 314 and nickel cathodes Rs 372 per kg respectively.
In scraps section, the prices were quoted as under: copper heavy scraps Rs 123.50, copper utensils Rs 111.50, brass utensils Rs 94.50, brass sheetcuttings Rs 99.00 and aluminium utensils Rs 59.50 a kg respectively.
Bullion: An easy trend was witnessed in the local bullion market yesterday. Both the precious metals ruled in downward direction.
In yellow metals, standard gold and 22-carat gold eased by Rs 10 and Rs 5 to Rs 4,760 and Rs 4,405 per 10 grammes respectively on easy demand followed by weak overseas advices. Gold biscuits prices also weakened by Rs 100 at Rs 55,700 per piece of 10-toals on reduced demand.
In white metals, silver.999 and .916 declined by Rs 10 each to Rs 6,875 and Rs 6,775 per kg respectively on dull industrial demand coupled with modest arrivals.
