Ia Earns Rs 9crore Profit In Q1 First Quarter

Indian Airlines has made a net profit of Rs 9.2 crore as against a budgeted net profit of Rs 2.08 crore in the first quarter this fiscal. The corresponding figures for the same period last year were net loss of Rs 30.95 crore and an operating profit of Rs 24.50 crore, the board of Indian Airlines, which met here today, was informed.

The recent statements and directives on safety violations by the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA), were also discussed, according to an IA spokesman.

On the 50-seater aircraft for short haul operations, the convenor of the boards evaluation and negotiation committee, informed the board that the financial bids were being processed and evaluated and the committee would be in a position to make its recommendations to the board at the next meeting.

Two board members, mr a p singh and mr p k brahma, were co-opted on the committee, the spokesman said.

On the synergy of operations between ia and air india, which have a common board, members agreed that both the airlines should undertake joint training programmes and joint tours.
