Indian Jute Mills Association (IJMA) has urged special attention of the Planning Commission to resolve various problems faced by the industry and to provide developmental assistance.
IJMA chairman G M Singhvi said yesterday that he had drawn the attention of Planning Commission deputy chairman Madhu Dandevate to the problems of the industry at a recent meeting. He said Dandevate had assured him that the commission would recommend certain measures to the Union government for helping the industry.
Singhi said that the jute industry was one of the largest labour intensive industries in the country performing great social responsibilities.
