Speaking to Business Standard, PHDCCI president K S Mehta endorsed the long-standing view of the chamber in favour of promoting inter-state ventures with the objective of utilising the inherent advantages of a particular region to complement and benefit other regions.

Mehta substantiated the form of cooperation being envisaged by the chamber by outlining few projects which are in various stages of implementation in some member states, primarily as a result of the efforts of the PHDCCI. This includes a proposal put forward by the Punjab and Haryana governments to set up a Hydel power project in Himachal Pradesh and also a project under consideration by the Rajasthan government to connect the township of Bhiwadi in the state to Rewari in Haryana by a rail line.

The proposal of the Punjab and Haryana state governments to set up the hydel project in Himachal Pradesh came up in the recent chief ministers conference organised by PHDCCI, as also did the Bhiwadi to Rewari rail link project.
