Jagannath Mishra, Krishna Sahi Quit Congress

Former union ministers from Bihar Jagannath Mishra and Krishna Sahi yesterday resigned from the Congress, charging the party leadership with joining hands with corrupt political parties for immediate gains.

In a letter to party president Sitaram Kesri, the senior Congress leader from Bihar took strong exception to the support extended to the Rabri Devi government.

She said she was ashamed the Congress with a history of 112 years had to shake hands with a person like Laloo Prasad Yadav, Sahi said.

She said the Congress was also trying to reach an electoral understanding with tainted parties in other states.

In such a situation, she had no option but to quit the party, Sahi added. Charging Congress president Sitaram Kesri with turning the state party unit into a stooge of RJD, Mishra, who was Bihars Chief Minister thrice, said he had decided to float a new outfit Bihar Bachao Congress Manch on December 24 while Sahi sent in her resignation letter to Kesri.

Claiming that seven former party mps and 60 former mlas were with him and attended a meeting of the steering committee of his proposed manch today, dr mishra said he was in touch with west bengals rebel congress leader mamata banerjee.

Ms sahi, a former union minister, accused the party leadership with joining hands with corrupt political parties and leaders for immediate gains and flayed congress support to rabri devi government.
