"Without music, life would be a mistake."
- Friedrich Nietzsche
I am not a philosopher, nor am I a learned man but I certainly echo the sentiments of Nietzsche here. Music adds value to the otherwise mundane life that most of us lead. Now comes the subject of good music - a pair of speakers can either make something sound amazing or reduce the voice of Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant to utter nonsense.
I was given a chance to put the new Zook ZM-SP3200 to use. Frankly I did not have very high expectations from the latest gizmo from Zook, which is known for creating eye-catching headphones, earphones and speakers. The Zook 2.1 channel speaker ZM-SP3200, priced at Rs 2,990 has an elegant design with two satellites and a 4-inch magnetically shielded bass unit for powerful bass output, all housed in a wooden enclosure. It can be easily connected by stereo jack to any audio device-MP3 player, mobile phone, laptop or a tablet.
I tested the device by connecting it to a laptop, mobile phone, iPod and a tablet. It is powerful and reproduces full, natural sound whether you are inches from the system or at a considerable distance. To keep it simple, these speakers have the ability to transform your computer into an entertainment system or any aux-device into a sound monster (enough to make your neighbours give you a call for turning the volume low).
The presence of a remote control makes life easier as it allows you to change tracks or turn the volume up or low from a distance. One glitch is that you can use the change track function only if you are playing music through a USB device.
For its size, audio quality is a lot better than what one would expect. The unique selling point of the gadget is certainly the looks and the affordable price.
The Zook ZM-SP3200 is compact, light in weight, and it certainly has the looks. The sound quality too is arguably the best you will get in this category. Hence, I would sum it up by saying that if you intend to invest in a new pair of speakers, which do not burn a hole in your pocket and deliver good quality music, then your search should end here.
