The Indian Hotels Company has entered into an agreement with Pune Industrial Hotels for purchase of the Blue Diamond Hotel, Pune and Hotel City Inn, Baramati.
The Taj Group classifies the Blue Diamond Hotel, Pune, under its brand of Taj Business Hotels. This 5-star unit, located between the airport and city centre, was conceived in 1970 to meet the needs of the discerning business traveller.
The Taj Group of Hotels plans to undertake renovation and upgradation of both hotels in September this year. While the agreement is being formalised, both hotels continue to be managed and operated by the Kirloskar group.

Hotel Blue Diamond has facilities that match international standards. Spread over an area of 1.08 lakh square feet, the hotel is equipped with a 600 capacity conference hall, four restaurants, 102 rooms, banquet facilities, swimming pool, health club and business centre. The 34 room Hotel City Inn at Baramati also caters to the business travellers.
The Kirloskars have, as part of their restructuring exercise, decided to focus on their core business sector which has resulted in the divestment of their hotels. The Taj group of hotels was seen as the appropriate choice as part of the Tata group.
The entry of the Taj group of hotels in the hospitality industry in Pune, according to the company release, is a positive move towards the new millennium.
