The Chief Ministers of the northern states have proposed the setting up of a common economic zone (CEZ) with similar tax regimes, while calling for joint initiatives in infrastructure for promotion of trade and fiscal integration of the region.
All states in the Union are inter-dependent and have to cooperate for development of the entire region and for bringing northern India on the global investment map.
This includes better connectivity through state roads, which should be planned keeping in mind the needs of the entire region, and helping the hilly states fully harness their hydro power potential, said speakers at the Chief Minister
