India on Monday successfully test-fired its indigenously-developed nuclear-capable Prithvi-II missile, strike range 350 km, from a test range at Chandipur. The surface-to-surface missile was fired from a mobile launcher in salvo mode, from launch complex-III of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at 9.14 am on Monday, defence sources said.

"The mission has achieved 100 per cent success and is a perfect launch," M V K V Prasad, director, ITR, said. The missile was randomly chosen from the production stock and the launch activities were carried out by the strategic forces command and monitored by scientists of the Defence Research and Development Organisation.
