Some of India Inc's leading personalities donated Rs 34,917 cr in 2015, despite weak business sentiment - more than double the money committed to social causes in the previous year (Rs 16,740 cr). According to the Hurun India Philanthropy List for 2015, Wipro Chairman Azim Premji was the 'Most Generous Indian', donating Rs 27,514 cr, an increase of 123% over the previous year, accounting for 80% of the total donations. The number of Indians on the list came down from 50 to 36 - there were 12 new entrants and 26 dropouts - but average donations increased from Rs 300 cr in 2014 to Rs 900 cr, mainly on the back of Premji's donation
