P Sugavanam Tipped As Ioc Finance Director

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended that P Sugavanam, executive director (finance) in the Indian Oil Corporations marketing division, be appointed as finance director of the public sector oil major.

The Public Enterprises Selection Board has recommended C Ramalu, executive director of Hindustan Petroleum Corportation Ltd (HPCL), as the second choice for the coveted post of IOC finance director.

The post, that falls vacant in July after the retirement of S C Mathur who reaches superannuation, has attracted ten applicants from six public sector undertakings (PSUs). Interviews for the post were held on April 27.

Besides Sugavanam and Ramalu, the other contenders were: M B L Agarwal (executive director, international trade & corporate finance, IOC); P Choudhry (chief general manager, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation); C N Rao (executive director, HPCL); M K Mukhopadhyay (chief general manager, ONGC); M G Taneja (general manager, ONGC); R S P Sinha (director, Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd), M Naraynan (director, NBCC); and P Majumdar (director, Balco).
