Petronet Shortlists 7 Cos For Lng Supply

Petronet LNG Ltd has shortlisted seven multinationals from among 17 bidders for supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India. The shortlisted companies are: Petronas of Malaysia, Ras Laffan LNG Co Ltd of Qatar alongwith Mobil LNG of Singapore, Shell International of the UK, Total of France, Woodside of Australia, Chevron of Australia, and Pertamina of Indonesia.

Petronet LNG Ltd is a joint venture company consisting of Indian Oil Corporation, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Gas Authority of India and Bharat Petroleum formed for the import of LNG and for setting up of LNG terminals in southern and western India.

The shortlisted companies will now be required to submit their commercial terms and pricing offers for the supply.

Almost all leading multinational companies had submitted their offer for supply of LNG to India when it was publicly notified early this year.

This is the first time that offers for supply of LNG has been publicly notified and invited. A joint team of officials from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) evaluated the offers.
