Pivotals Decline Moderately On Heavy Selling Pressure

Pivotal prices on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday declined moderately following heavy selling pressure from financial institutions and common investors.

The NSE-50 index opened at 1000.75 points, touched days high of 1002.00 points, low of 989.50 points and closed at 991.55 points as against its previous close of 1003.10 points, suffering a loss of 11.55 points. The Mid-cap closed at 1050.41 points over the last days close of 1064.27 points, losing 13.87 points.

Hectic trading was observed in counters like State Bank of India (Rs 361.66 crore), ITC (Rs 246.46 crore), Reliance Industries Limited (Rs 191.29 crore), Tata Iron and Steel Corporation (Rs 66.54 crore), Associated Cement Company (Rs 57.43 crore), Tata Electric and locomotive Corporation (Rs 22.7 crore), Bombay Suburban Electric Supply (Rs 20.06 crore), Larsen & Toubro (Rs 18.19 crore), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (Rs 14.47 crore), Gujarat Ambuja Cement (Rs 6.49 crore), Bajaj Auto (Rs 5.47 crore), Thermax (Rs 3.59 crore), Tata Power (Rs 2.5 crore), Colgate (Rs 2.23 crore), Indian Petrochemicals Limited (Rs 2.05 crore), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (Rs 2.05 crore), Steel Authority of India Limited(Rs 1.61 crore), Oriental Bank (Rs 1.53 crore), Hindustan Lever Limited (Rs 1.36 crore), Hitechi Jewellery (Rs 1.04 crore), Arvind Mills (Rs 1.02 crore), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (Rs 0.88 crore), Jaipraksh Industries (Rs 0.86 crore), MRF (Rs 0.82 crore) and Western Paques (Rs 0.8 crore) counters.

The top five gainers on the National Stock Exchange were Dart, Niraj Petro, Prag Bosimi Synthetics, Celeste International and Eastern Sug & Industries. While losers were S S I Finance, HMG Industries, Panchmahal Cement and Ganesh Anyhdride Andreil Products.
