The city will be built on 100 acres of land and will have facilities for designing, testing, warehousing of raw material and manufacture of toys. This will complement business opportunities with a support infrastructure.
The council has been entrusted with the task of promoting export of toys, keeping in view the growing need for CAD support for toys and the advantage of electronic networking for accessing trade opportunitieswith the ESC.
The toy industry needs to prepare itself for the export markets. These include issues relating to patents, trademarks, design, copyright and safety standards, ESC executive director R H Naqvi said.
The council is initially targetting the markets the European Union, North America, South east Asia and the Middle east for its exports.
Naqvi said the annual per capita expenditure on toys at $370 is highest in Japan followed by the USA with $325 and Hong Kong with $320.
