Rpg Netcom To Offer Railway Info On Tv

Railway information pack on RPG Netcom Tele-Text Services was inaugurated yesterday by S Ramanathan, general manager, Eastern Railway. In association with Eastern Railway, RPG Netcom will provide various updated information on train services on its channel, Snap.

Snap will run on the `S' band of the cable network and will be available 24 hours a day.

The basic inputs on reservation status of select important trains and details of the earliest availability of tickets for select trains will be made available to the cable households.

Eastern Railway will also try to provide the status of various waitlisted and reservation against

cancellation (RAC) tickets, details of delays in arrivals and departures of trains from and to Calcutta and other important flashes relevant to the services of the Railways.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, RPG Netcom Ltd chief executive officer Prabir K Bose said, "We will provide weather reports, major events of the day, traffic status in various parts of the city, and important telephone numbers shortly. Our aim is to make this channel part and parcel of every citizen."

Significantly, airline information would be made available to the viewers similarly.
