The NSE-50 index gained a single point over its previous close of 976. The index opened lower at 973 and touched a high of 981, before closing at 977.
The turnover on the exchange once again crossed the Rs 1000-crore mark to touch Rs 1035.27 crore, with 5.34 crore shares being traded.
