Groundnut oil advanced further yesterday on restricted arrivals from the producing centres. However, the demand was subdued at higher levels. Other industrial oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market yesterday.
Groundnut oil improved further by Rs three at Rs 426 per 10 kg on limited inflows from the producing centres. Arrivals were put at around 80 tonne a day.
In other oils, kardi oil, copra oil white and sunflower oil expeller advanced by Rs 10 each to Rs 550, Rs 465 and Rs 410 per 10 kg on improved industrial demand coupled with limited arrivals. Linseed oil and mowra oil declined by Rs five each to Rs 375 and Rs 280 per 10 kg respectively. Neem oil and Karanji oil looked up by Rs 10 and Rs 5 to Rs 210 and Rs 175 per 10 kg respectively. Imported palmolein firmed up further by Rs 6 at Rs 390 per 10 kg on improved industrial demand and modest arrivals.

Sugar: An easy-to-subdued trend was noticed in sugar prices at the wholesale sugar market yesterday. The undertone of the market was weak.
Sugar S-30 grade eased to Rs 1520/1535 against the previous level of Rs 1520/1540 a quintal on easy availability of ready stock. The demand was subdued on better arrivals. Sugar M-30 ruled slightly firm at Rs 1535/1585 as against the previous level of Rs 1530/1585 a quintal on subdued consumer buying interest and better availability of ready stock.
Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1505/1520 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1520/1530 a quintal for the M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous metals: Quiet conditions were noticed in the local non-ferrous metals market yesterday. While the demand remained subdued against normal arrivals, the undertone remained hesitant.
In the scraps section, all the metals ruled overall steady, and were nominally quoted as under : copper heavy scraps Rs 114, copper utensils Rs 99.25, brass utensils Rs 88.75, brass sheetcuttings Rs 92 and aluminium utensils Rs 62.50 a kg respectively on narrow movements.
In the virgin section, all the metals ruled overall steady, and were quoted as under: copper wirebar Rs 129.50, aluminium ingots Rs 82, zinc slabs Rs 74.50, lead ingots Rs 42, tin slabs Rs 357 and nickel cathodes Rs 315 a kg respectively on narrow movements.
Bullion: The weak trend continued in the local bullion market yesterday. Both the precious metals ruled dull, and the undertone of the market remained hesitant.
In white metals, silver .999 and .916 declined further by Rs 235 each to Rs 8,375 and Rs 8,265 a kg respectively. In the yellow metals, both standard gold and 22 carat gold eased by Rs 45 and Rs 40 to Rs 4,105 and Rs 3,800 per 10 grammes respectively on dull consumer demand.Biscuit prices also weakened by Rs 500 at Rs 48,200 per piece.
