Groundnut oil reacted at higher level on sluggish demand. The arrivals from the producing centres were better. Other industrial oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday. Imported palmolein ruled steady.
Groundnut oil declined by Rs 4 at Rs 486 per 10 kg on dull consumer demand. Arrivals were at around 80-90 tonne a day.
In other oils, linseed oil and sesame oil declined by Rs 3 and Rs 5 to Rs 448 and Rs 435 per 10 kg. Imported palmolein eased by Rs 2 at Rs 375 per 10 kg. Most other oils ruled overall steady.

In futures market, castorseeds September contract opened 50 paise up at Rs 1,423 a quintal and closed at Rs 1,418.50 a quintal.
In oilseeds, castor seeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities declined Rs 5 each to Rs 1,421 and Rs 1,415 a quintal. Kardi seeds also dipped by Rs 25 at Rs 1,850 a quintal, while nigerseeds Madras firmed up by Rs 50 at Rs 1,900 a quintal.
Sugar: An easy-to-downward trend was witnessed in sugar prices at the wholesale sugar market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. Both grades of sugar were subdued. Undertone was weak.
Sugar S-30 grade eased to Rs 1,452/1,470 a quintal as against Rs 1,458/1,473, while Sugar M-30 ruled overall steady and was nominally quoted at Rs 1480/1505 a quintal. Arrivals were subdued.
Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries was quoted lower at Rs 1,440/1,450 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1458/1475 a quintal for the M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous metals: A firm-to-steady trend was noticed in the local non-ferrous metals market
In virgin section, tin slabs improved by Rs 2 at Rs 380 a kg. Copper wirebar firmed up by Re 1 at Rs 132 a kg. Other metals ruled steady and were quoted as under: aluminium ingots Rs 83, zinc slabs Rs 78.25, lead ingots Rs 43.50 and nickel cathodes Rs 294 a kg.
In scraps section, copper heavy scraps advanced by Re 1 while copper utensils and brass utensils firmed up by 75 paise each to Rs 115.50, Rs 103.50 and Rs 89.25 a kg respectively. Brass sheetcuttings looked up by 50 paise at Rs 93 a kg. Meanwhile, aluminium utensils ruled overall steady and were quoted at Rs 64.50 a kg on narrow movements.
Bullion: Mixed trend was seen in the local bullion market yesterday. Silver advanced further, while gold prices ruled steady.
In white metals, silver .999 and .916 extended gains by Rs 130 and Rs 155 to Rs 8,115 and Rs 7,990 a kg respectively.
Both, standard gold and 22 carat gold ruled overall steady and were quoted at Rs 4,300 and Rs 3,980 per 10 gms. Gold biscuit prices improved by Rs 100 at Rs 50,700 per piece of gold bar.
