Silver Soars By Rs 305, Groundnut Oil Declines

Groundnut oil continued to decline on weak Rajkot advices coupled with reduced demand against improved arrivals. Other industrial oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday.

Groundnut oil declined further by Rs 3 at Rs 332 per 10 kg on reduced consumer demand coupled with brisk arrivals which were put at around 90/100 tonnes.

In other oils, linseed oil eased by Rs 2 at Rs 283 per 10 kg. Coconut oil white gained Rs 20 at Rs 545 per 10 kg on reduced inflows. Rapeseed oil refined and soya oil refined eased by Rs 3 each to Rs 277 and Rs 287 per 10 kg respectively.

Imported palmolein gained Rs 2 at Rs 268 per 10 kg on better industrial demand.

In futures section, the December contract opened lower at Rs 1156 and firmed up to Rs 1158 a quintal. It declined to Rs 1155.50 before closing at Rs 1157.50 a quintal on subdued movements.

Sugar: A firm-to-upward trend was noticed at the wholesale sugar market yesterday. The undertone of the market was firm.

Sugar S-30 grade firmed up further to Rs 1463/1500 against the previous level of Rs 1455/1480 a quintal. Sugar M-30 improved further to Rs 1483/1530 against the previous level of Rs 1485/1515 a quintal. Meanwhile, sugar for the check post deliveries were quoted low at Rs 1430/1445 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1460/1480 for the M-30 grade.

Non-ferrous metals: A firm-to-upward trend was noticed in the local non-ferrous market yesterday. In scraps section, copper heavy scraps and copper utensils firmed up by 50 paise each to Rs 121 and Rs 111 a kg respectively while brass utensils and brass sheetcuttings looked up by 25 paise each to Rs 97.25 and Rs 102.50 a kg respectively. Aluminium utensils also gained Re 1 at Rs 61 a kg

In virgin section, tin slabs and nickel cathodes gained further by Rs 2 and Rs 3 to Rs 302 and Rs 332 a kg respectively Aluminium ingots improved by Rs 2 at Rs 80 a kg.on firm overseas advices Copper wirebars looked up by 50 paise at Rs 129 a kg.While zinc slabs were quoted at Rs.85.25, lead ingots were quoted at Rs 41 a kg. respectively

Bullion: Silver prices flared up while gold firmed up further in the local bullion market yesterday. The undertone of the market remained firm.

In white metals, silver, both .999 and .916, shot up by Rs 305 each to Rs 7225 and Rs 7125 a kg on better overseas advices and improved demand. In yellow metals, standard gold and 22 carat gold firmed up further by Rs 40 each to Rs 4490 and Rs 4155 per 10 gms respectively on firm overseas advices. Gold biscuit prices improved further by Rs 400 at Rs.52,700 a piece.
