Sukh Ram's son-in-law, Dr. Sohan Lal Vasisht, told senior Indian high commission officials in London that the former minister had been unable to consult a doctor today as it is a bank holiday in Britain.

Dr Vasisht told High Commission officials that a date for Sukh Ram's return would only be fixed after doctors here pronounce the former minister fit to travel by air.

Sukh Ram had a heart bypass surgery in the US last year.
