Kuppam was once a sleepy and little-known mandal on the map of Andhra Pradesh. That was before its legislator became the Chief Minister of the state.

Today, Kuppam, nestling between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka has a modern 100-bed hospital, a dairy plant, a regional university in the making, a NICNET centre and bus stations linked to 112 destinations within and outside the state.

Almost all the villages in the district have protected water supply, electricity and well laid road links. The bus station at Kuppam town runs 112 services, linking almost all important centres in the state as well as neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The constituency boast of one of the most advanced agricultural farms - a demonstration unit managed by experts from Israel with the state government alone investing over Rs 4 crore on it.

According to officials here, the government has spent over Rs 231 crore on development activities in this constituency in the past four-and-a-half years. Of this, over Rs 85 crore has been spent on irrigation and roads, Rs 60 crore on housing
