Total Trade Touches Rs 349.54 Crore

Volumes in the wholesale debt segment of the National Stock Exchange picked up compared to Wednesday and gilt prices revived in reaction to the measures announced by the Reserve Bank of India on the foreign exchange front.

The WDM witnessed 58 trades worth Rs 349.54 crore,of which the treasury bill segment saw a trading volume of Rs 70 crore.

The 13.55 per cent government paper saw nine trades for an amount of Rs 55 crore at a weighted yield of 11.49 per cent. It was traded at a high of Rs 105.85 and a low of Rs 105.55.

The 12.69 per cent 2002 paper witnessed three trades for Rs 25 crore, at a weighted yield of 11.54 per cent. The security was traded at a high of 103.55 and a low of Rs 103.35.

The total traded volume of debentures at the WDM stood at Rs 6.37 crore yesterday. The 16 per cent debentures of MRPL maturing in 2002 witnessed 25 trades for Rs 2.57 lakh at a weighted price of Rs 98.67, or an indicative yield of 16.30 per cent.

In the treasury bills segment, the 364 day T-bills maturing on July 7 saw four trades for a volume of Rs 53 crore, traded at a weighted yield of 7.96 per cent.
