Volumes at the wholesale debt market (WDM) segment of the National Stock Exchange increased to Rs 514.57 crore yesterday. The segment saw a total of 81 trades. Trading in treasury bills, however, was lacklustre with just one deal worth Rs five crore.
The 12.00 per cent government loan, maturing in 2008, was traded for Rs 110 crore at a weighted average yield of 12 per cent. The paper witnessed nine trades, the highest being done at Rs 99.95, and the lowest at Rs 99.00.
There was interest in four year papers with the 11 per cent 2002 and 12.69 per cent 2002 gilts witnessing the maximum number of trades. Both saw 10 trades at the weighted average yields of 11.22 per cent and 11.25 per cent respectively. The two papers contributed volumes of Rs 50 crore and Rs 55 crore respectively. The 11.50 per cent government loan, maturing in 2004, saw eight trades, and contributed to a volume of Rs 40 crore. The paper was traded at the weighted average yield of 11.67 per cent at a low of Rs 99.00 and high of Rs 99.35. Debentures contributed to a volume of Rs 9.28 lakh with active trading in Tiscos SPN maturing in 1999 and MRPLs 16 per cent issue maturing in 2002.
