Transactions Dip To Rs 714.01 Crore

The wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) witnessed trades worth Rs 714.01 crore yesterday. The inter-bank call rate ruled in the range of 0.10-0.25 per cent during the day.

Among the actively traded government securities were the 13.40 per cent government loan maturing in 1999 traded for Rs 70 crore at 10.43 per cent, while the newly issued 13.05 per cent 10-year government loan maturing in 2007 was traded for Rs 85 crore at 12.72 per cent. The 13.85 per cent government loan maturing in 2001 was traded for Rs 28 crore at 11.32 per cent.

The security prices are, however, expected to move downward with the central bank placing nearly Rs 7,500 crore worth state and central securities in the market, opined a dealer . The 364-day treasury bill (T-bill) maturing on April 10, 1998, was traded for Rs 55 crore at 8.56 per cent. The 91-day T-bill maturing on June 14, 1997 was traded for Rs 5 crore at 4.35 per cent .

The 15.50 per cent taxable BPCL bond maturing in 2000 was traded for Rs 10 crore at 13.98 per cent, while the promissory notes issued by GE Capital maturing in July 1997 was traded at 10.35 per cent .

Corporate debentures were traded for Rs 1.67 crore, mostly accounted by a single trade of Tisco deep discount bonds maturing in 2007 traded for 1.49 crore.
