Transactions Total Rs 347 Crore

NSE REPORT

The wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) witnessed a traded volume of Rs 347 crore of which the treasury bills segment contributed Rs 248.50 crore. The repo deals were concluded at Rs 25 crore.

The three-day paper was traded at the rate of 25 per cent. Treasury bill were traded at a high rate ranging from 15 per cent to 20 per cent.

Net sellers in the market as well as several traders were dumping securities in the market, while the Life Insurance Corporation was buying securities from the market, said a broker.

Prices have crushed further yesterday and many securities are being traded below par value.

A bulk trade was done for the treasury bill maturing on October 9 for an aggregate amount of Rs 50 crore at the weighted yield of 20 per cent at the price of Rs 87.40. The treasury bill maturing on February 27 was traded for Rs 40 crore at a yield of 16.12 per cent in the range of Rs 98.29 and Rs 98.36.

The 12.14 per cent government loan maturing in 2000 was traded below par value at prices ranging from Rs 98 to Rs 98.50 and at the weighted yield of 13.01 per cent. The 12.08 pert cent gilts maturing in 2001 was traded at a weighted yield of 12.44 per cent at the price of Rs 99.
