Trading remained brisk in the wholesale debt market at the National Stock Exchange yesterday.However, the turnover dipped from Rs 459 crore on Thursday to Rs 430.11 crores.
Once again the short-term securities were mopped up by banks. The 91-day treasury bill maturing on November 16, 1996 saw a high volume of Rs 22 crores. The trade, to be settled the same day, was concluded at a price of Rs 99.80.
The yield on the transaction was worked out at 4.7 per cent. The other three-month paper maturing on January 25, 1997 was traded at 7 per cent. A Rs 15-crore deal at a price of Rs 98.396 was struck in this paper. It was to be settled the same day.
This was followed by a Rs 10-crore transaction in the 364-day T-bill maturing on October 10 1997 at a yield of 10 per cent.
It is to be settled the same day. Another deal in the same paper was struck for Rs 15 crore at 9.8 per cent. It is to be settled the next day.
