Turnover Touches Rs 344.90 Crore

The wholesale debt segment in the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has recorded a turnover of Rs 344.90 crore yesterday. Corporate debentures contributed a little more than Rs 6 crore to the total volume.

The seven-year 12.59 per cent paper maturing in 2004 clocked a turnover of Rs 40 crore at a weighted average yield of 11.76 per cent. The three-year 12.14 per cent security maturing in 2000 was traded actively for Rs 60 crore at an yield of 10.45 per cent, while the 11.83 per cent paper maturing in 2003 also recorded trades worth Rs 55 crore at 11.59 per cent. Treasury bills were also active yesterday. The bills maturing on October 10, 1997 and July 18, 1998 were traded for Rs 20 core and Rs 5 crore at an yield of 6.5 per cent and 7.8 per cent respectively. The 91-day bills were also traded for Rs 27.43 crore. In the corporate debenture segment, the 14 per cent security maturing in 2000 provided Rs 5.08 crore to the total volume of Rs 6 crore.

Apart from the zero per cent Reliance Petro PPD and 16 per cent Torrent Gujarat 2001, there were not much activity in other counters. Reliance Petro was traded for Rs 79.63 lakh, whereas Torrent registered a turnover of Rs 1.40 lakh.
