Goodcare Pharma, which makes ayurvedic medicines under the brandname Good Earth, has already introduced "Stress Guard" to fight stress relief. Both Stress Guard and Neem Guard will be targeted for exports.

"We also plan to double our exports shortly and are taking steps towards this," said R K Sharma, director, Shree Baidyanath, at a press conference to launch the new medicine in Calcutta.

The company is also gearing up to expand the over-the-counter (OTC) segment, with 3,500 exclusive showrooms already in place.

Unlike its competitors, Dabur and Zandu, Shree Baidyanath is currently a closely held company. The company is likely to explore the possibility of changing its status in the next four-five years, said Sharma. Goodcare Pharma, in collaboration with US-based Good Earth Inc, is also planning to grow herbs organically in West Bengal, he said.

"Already 350 varieties of herbs have been planted at Joka near Calcutta. The saplings of these herbs will be distributed to farmers nearby and we shall be buying back the herbs produced for manufacturing," added Sharma.
