The Xpressions - 2012, the annual fest of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), a premier B-school of the country, kick started here on Thursday.
The theme for this year’s fest marking the silver jubilee of the institution is Crescendo-accrete, ascend and outdo. The annual event will continue till November 4. During the course of the event, Anurag Basu, noted film director and writer will deliberate on the subject, “Creativity at a premium in a wave of 1.2 billion” at a conclave. Xpressions will feature plethora of business simulation games like Gladiator, Kurukshetra, Skill City, Helios and Spardha.
While Gladiator is a cross functional game testing the expertise in all the fields of management, Kurukshetra is a business strategy game that tests the business acumen and interpersonal skills by simulating a real world business scenario comprising of markets, customers and business owners. Similarly Helios is a management game designed for the under graduate students while Spardha is a test of social entrepreneurial quotient.
This year XIMB is expecting 2,500 participants from 45-50 B Schools and premier institutions like National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kolkata , Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) ,Indian Institute of Technology ( IITs) and XLRI among others with an expected foot fall of around 30,000 during the three day long extravaganza.
For lighting up the evenings, the fest organisers have lined up series of cultural events like Carnival De Vogue - the fashion show, Nukkad Natak - the street play competition for theater aficionados, thirkan - the group dance competition, etc. Celeblitz - the star night on the concluding day is likely to steal the show. The glittering night will feature popular music director duo Salim-Sulaiman and singer Neha Bhasin. “XIMB this year has merchandises the brand Xpressions by selling t-shirts, sweat shirts and coffee mugs online. For this, we have tied up with eparsha.com for online selling,” said Christopher Jegam, cultural secretary of the event.
