After almost three years, I was forced to shave off my patiently nurtured beard. It wasn’t easy to let go of it. But some things have to be done. And so I grudgingly decided to let go of my facial hair. The first thing that struck me was I was out of the shaving paraphernalia – no razor, shaving foam or an after-shave lotion.
Since the first time I started shaving in college, I have never looked beyond Gillette razors. I started by using the iconic Gillette Sensor Excel and then graduated to Mach 3, which incidentally was my last used razor. I came across Gillette’s latest razor the FlexBall -and the look of the razor certainly caught my eye. The price of the razor – Rs 499 – seemed a bit on the higher side but I decided to try it anyway.
The first thing that you will notice about the Gillette FlexBall is how effortlessly it glides over your face, hardly ever losing contact over the tricky curves. This is thanks to the innovative handle featuring the Flexball Technology that lets the blades pivot front to back as well as side to side (up to 24 degrees). This ensures that the full width of the cartridge gets to be more evenly in contact with your jawline, thus getting virtually every hair. And with the pivot in motion more than 80% of the time, it relives your wrist and elbow of the extra pressure – thus making it probably the most effortless shave you’ve ever experienced.
By now ,the Gillete FlexBall’s impressive design had me hooked and I noticed that it also comes with thinner fusion ProGlide blades and has greater space in between them. I compared it with my earlier razor and the difference was pretty stark. I also noticed a trimmer at the back that had something like a comb guard. This will certainly be helpful for lazy men who shave once a fortnight and curse themselves everytime while doing so . Because longer the hair, the more painstaking it is to shave. But I am assuming that the Gillete FlexBall Fusion users won’t have to grapple with any such issue.
Razors, over the years, have certainly undergone many changes and each time one picks up a new razor, the difference is hardly noticed. But with the new Gillette FlexBall, users will surely notice the difference in terms of looks, grip and the effortless shave that comes with it. In my case, if I do decide to keep the clean-shaven look, then it will be hard to use any other razor but the Gillette FlexBall.
